Bone-Shaped CHEESY Sticks - Guest Post (#ToddlerFunFriday)

Today I have the lovely Claire from Girl on a Mission sharing a quick and easy cheesy stick recipe and to add a bit of fun, she is using a bone-shaped cookie cutter...Enjoy!

Do you have a toddler in your home who is obsessed with Pirates, Dinosaurs or Paw Patrol? If yes, then they will love these super cute bone-shaped cheesy sticks, and best of all, your toddler can help you make them. These sticks would also make a great 'trick or treat' snack for kids at Halloween, so be sure to PIN IT for later.

Let's get started...

Ingredients:
250g (1 cup) grated cheese  (I used Edam, but you can use what ever hard cheese you fancy)
4 Tablespoons of Butter, chopped up into cubes
3/4 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of flour
2 tablespoons of cold water

Method:
1. Put everything except the water in a food processor and pulse until the contents resembles coarse sand. Add in the water one tablespoon at a time (it will form a sticky dough ball)

2. Remove the dough and wrap in cling wrap, refrigerate for 20 minutes.

3. Roll the dough out and cut into shapes, or squares. I used a bone-shaped cookie cutter.

4. Place on a baking paper, on a baking tray and bake until golden brown (180'C for about 15 minutes).

5. Enjoy! (on their own or with a dip of your choice)

I found it easier to make one batch at a time, so I re-wrapped the dough and put it back in the fridge until it was time to take the batch out of the oven, and just repeated the process. The amount of sticks is totally dependent on the size of cookie cutter you use. We managed to fill up a medium container.

They are super yummy, and my toddler absolutely loves them, hubby does too.

This recipe will be making its way into my recipe book, and will be a new household staple. It's always good to know what you are feeding your little ones, and this recipe only contains 5 household 'staple ingredients', so it's a definite winner.

What do you think? Will you give this cheesy stick recipe a try?

  2. I love the bones! What a great, simple recipe. I made chicken nuggets using cookie cutters last week and the kids loved them, so this would be a great addition.
