Kids Parties: High Tea Pamper Party

My friend, Mrs S (also a teacher) and I were overdue for a catch up and what started off as just getting our nails done, quickly turned into a High Tea Pamper Party (dressing up for the occasion compulsory)Mrs S was happy to take care of the 'High Tea Party' side of things & I took care of the 'Pampering'. Together we had a wonderful afternoon - enjoying some yummy scones (link to recipe below), sipping on a nice cup of tea and looking glamorous with our new manicure.

Here are a few photos from our day.

Setting the scene with paper lantern balls & pom-poms
Cute little drink stand

Props - just for fun!

The day we decided that we were going to have a High Tea Pamper Party, I came across a post on 30 Days of Smile's blog: "Never Fail Scones" - Perfect timing or what? I have never made scones before (I know, shame on me) so I was willing to give this recipe a go! #makeithappen - And just like that, I made my first batch of scones! This recipe is SO simple - I totally recommend that you head over to CJ's page and check it out, and make some of the yummy scones for yourself!

High Tea Party complete with Cup and Saucers
and drinking tea from teapots! BLISS!
Beautiful frame for $5 from K-Mart.
Bunting from K-Mart or you can make your own: DIY Bunting
Gorgeous punch bowl - I love milk bottles too - they are so cute

Enjoying a cup of tea
Miss B's Nail Polish Collection
Nail accessories
Loving our new manicures!
You don't have to spend a lot of money when creating a High Tea Party, your local op-shops are perfect for collecting teapots, cups & sauces and other vintage items. A really fun idea to do with your daughter, mum, girlfriends or as a Baby Shower theme.
Have you been to or hosted a High Tea Party?

#TuesdayTen: My Goals for 2015 - #MakeitHappen

In the past, I have had resolutions and usually by March/April I have totally forgotten what they are and then remember them on the 30th December, when it's too late in the year to do anything about it! Does that happen to anyone else? So instead of having resolutions, I have goals or areas of my life that I want to improve and I write them down or add them to my Bucket List.

My motto for 2015 is #MakeitHappen - Make it Memorable. This makes me really excited & motivated about the year ahead! For too long, I have let things slide under the radar, and never looked back, however this year that is all about to change...I will wake up, pay attention & #make it happen.

Personal Goals

1. Be more Organised!
I thrive when I am organised! This year I plan to return to the classroom one day a week, so between home, work & my blog I want to have everything organised. I have my monthly planner (which I love), and have started an editorial calendar for the blog to make things a bit easier for myself. It's going to be a big year for me us, lots of things happening, so ORGANISATION is the key! Keeping with the organisation theme...I have so many photos stored on my laptop, phone & camera (not to mention the ones already saved on my external hard-drive),  I would love to have them ALL organised and have photos printed into albums/photo-books. The same goes for my sentimental items. I need to de-clutter and organise my storage containers. I love this post by Abby at Just a Girl and her Blog - it is the perfect solution!

2. Find a new home!
This is totally dependent on whether or not we sell our current house. We will be putting our house on the market in the next month or so, eek. We have looked at a couple of potential houses but can't make any plans to move forward just yet. I would love to move into a new house this year!

3. Learn more about Photography
I have always loved taking photos (hence why I need to organise them), however since I got my DSLR camera for Christmas - I want to learn everything there is to know (well maybe not everything), but just enough so that I am making the most of my camera and not taking photos in Auto. So therefore, I would like to do a Photography Course/Workshop to improve my photography and increase knowledge and skills, or maybe meet with a photographer and get some tips (I actually know a few close to home!).

4. Walk up/Climb Mt Manaia

This is actually on my bucket list. Now that I have walked up Parahaki (1/1/15), I would like to do this at least once a month, and then at the end of the year before my birthday in November, walk up/climb Mt Manaia (preferably with my family).

5. Organise TWO Milestone birthday parties

We will be celebrating not one but TWO birthday milestones in March...Miss B is turning 10 - YIKES! (Double digits) & Master M is turning ONE - and they happen to be in the same week! I already have the themes sorted, its just a matter of pulling them off! Watch this space!

Blogging Goals

I have been blogging officially since September 2014 (I created my Facebook page in May 2014). I have really enjoyed my blogging journey so far and am really excited about what 2015 has to offer! Here are my five blogging goals...

1. Reach milestones
I love watching my little blog community grow - I need YOUR help to do this! If you are reading this post - You can follow me on FacebookInstagramPinterest & Twitter, please pop over and say HI & click the LIKE/FOLLOW button - a big thank you in advance :).

2. Guest Post on other blogs.

I would love to be a Guest on someone's blog (wink, wink). I would also love to have 6 guest bloggers this year - So if you are interested, please let me know (best to contact me via Facebook). You can read my first Guest Blogger post by Courtney from Bliss & Baby Brain (while you are there, why not share some love).

3. Be a more Organised blogger!

When I set up my blog in September last year, I didn't really know what I was doing, I just knew it was something I wanted to do...I read a lot of Blogging tips and was inspired by other bloggers with a similar niche to mine. As the months went on, my page views increased and this got me excited - people from all around the world were actually reading my blog (it's a pretty cool feeling). I love structure and being organised (as I have already mentioned), so I have an editorial calendar to help me get more organised on the blog. I have introduced a new segment/series: {Sunday Share} where I share my #FMSPhotoaDay photos and I will also link back to previous posts from the week - just in case you missed them. I have so many blog ideas for this year...I can't wait to share them with you.

4. Meet some Blogging friends
I have met so many lovely bloggers online who I consider my friends. I would love to actually meet one, two or even three of them in real life. I might have to start with the local ones first though, in my own country, before heading overseas! Who would be keen for a cuppa and a catch up?

5. Enjoy it!

Last year I found something that I am passionate about, that makes me happy, and is something for ME and I get to share all of it with YOU, my readers! A lot of work goes into blogging, it takes time and effort, however I do really enjoy it! This year I want to continue to enjoy my creative outlet - my 5th wall and I hope you do too!

So there you have it - my goals for 2015! Let's #MakeitHappen - Make it Memorable!

What are your goals this year?
(If you are a blogger, please leave me a link to your goals in the comments or via social media, I would love to read them!)

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to TuesdayTen :)

FMS Photo a Day - December

This completes my fourth month of taking part in Fat Mum Slim's Photo a Day Challenge. I absolutely love it and I have to admit - I'm a little addicted now!

Here is my collage for the last month of 2014 - December. I had my little friend Santa Bear help me out with my photos this month. It made it a lot more fun by adding a bit of a Christmas spirit to each photo - he travelled around everywhere with me.

I am really excited about taking part this year (2015) as now the prompts are given weekly (instead of monthly)...and I plan to use my new Canon EOS for my photos this month! I have even inspired (and encouraged) some of my friends to participate this year too. I can't wait to see their amazing photos (and YOURS).

WANT TO PLAY ALONG???
Here is {Week 1} prompts by @FatMumSlim . Click on the pic below for more details on how to play.

2015: Make it Happen!

Happy New Year!!
I hope you all have had a great start to the year. I have!
Let's just take a minute and reflect on the year 2014 by answering these ten questions kindly shared by Bron at Maxabella Loves. You can read her answers on this post

1. What word do you think best summed up 2014? AMAZING! Looking back at our year - it definitely was AMAZING! So many positives - welcoming Master M into our little family, starting a blog, & getting my first DSLR camera.
2. What did you do for the first time this year? Started a blog! (Well, I started a Facebook page first, then I created my blog).
3. What is one thing that happened that will have lasting consequences? Does giving birth to my 10lb 14oz son (all natural & drug-free) count? It's having lasting consequences on my body!
4. Was there anything you wish you’d done differently? Why? How? Organise/Manage my blog. I have yet to find a system to manage/organise my blog that works for me! If any bloggers have any tips, I would love to hear them!
5. Do you have a favourite moment from the year? What made it special? The Arrival of Master M - I became a Mum for the second time (after a 9 year gap), my daughter became a Big Sister, and my partner became a Daddy for the first time! We are a family of four!
6. What lessons has 2014 taught you about yourself? About others? Believe that you CAN do it! I never thought I would give birth to an almost 11 pounder - but I did! I never thought I would start a blog - but I did (and I love it).
7. How will the lessons from this past year change the way you approach the new year? It has motivated me to keep going! Goals that I have put in the "too hard basket" - I want to achieve them this year!
8. What do you most want to do in 2015? Organise and manage my LIFE, my HOME & my BLOG - and make time for ME!
9. What do you most want to change about yourself? The world? Forget about the negatives & focus on the positives!
10. What one word do you hope will sum up what you hope to achieve in 2015?
MEMORABLE
My family & I decided to kick start the year with a walk/climb up one of our city mountains! It was the first time for me (to my friends/family - shock horror, I know). I have been wanting to do it for a couple of years but have always put it off. I'm not going to lie...it was hard, however I am really proud of myself for doing it and sharing the moment with my family! I am super proud of Miss B too - she didn't complain once! Hats off to my partner who climbed the mountain with our (10.5kg, gigantor, almost 10 month old) son in the front pack! High 5 Daddy!

First of many memorable moments for the year - as this year my motto is
MAKE IT HAPPEN - Make it Memorable!

MAKE IT HAPPEN: Walk up/Climb Mt Parahaki - DONE 1/1/15
I have so many goals that I want to accomplish this year - Personal, Work & Blogging. Plus we have many milestones happening for our family, so I am really excited about 2015! I will "Make it Happen - Make it memorable". Will you join me?

If you are visiting Teacher by trade - Mother by nature for the first time - WELCOME! It's so lovely to have you here! Please feel free to have a look around! You can find all my previous posts on the right hand side under the sections Blog Archive or I Blog About.  I would love for you to join my blogging community on Facebook & Instagram too! More the merrier.

Do you have a motto or Word for the Year 2015?
